I started off back in 2013 with an idea to arm-crochet. At that time - back in the day - roving or wool tops, especially merino were few and far between in the UK. I put an enquiry out on Twitter, and got answered by a chap called Martin Curtis of The Real Shetland Company who said "I think I can help you". He did. Thank you Martin. x
I did my first arm-crocheted throw with a wool top of Dorset Horn from The Real Shetland Company, where I coined the phrase "from field to fingers". That one ended up in Switzerland! Well it's chilly there in the winter, so it's definitely gone to a good home.
Since then, of course, the lovely deliciously soft and warm Merino roving has become much more readily available. I've been selling the Merino roving for other artisans/crafters to purchase for their own projects.
I also like to feature our very own British breeds like the Dorset Horn, the Herdwick, Shetland and many, many others. Although a bit limited in colours, you can't beat the quality of the British 100% real wools.
Anyway, to cut a long story short, I've been arm-knitted and arm-crochet ever since. That's the story of my roving, wool top journey. I hope you've enjoyed it!
